Each year, Saint Louis University hosts “Make A Difference Day,” where approximately 4,000 SLU students, faculty, and staff volunteer with community programs across the St. Louis region. “Make a Difference Day,” MADD for short, has garnered the title of the largest collegiate volunteer effort in the Midwest and the largest day of service in Missouri. In addition to helping coordinate and connect SLU volunteer groups with partner organizations, the university provides lunches, water, gloves, and MADD t-shirts to everyone who participates (pictured below). Thanks, SLU!
We thoroughly enjoyed the opportunity to volunteer with Gateway Greening, getting our hands in the dirt, and seeing the success of St. Louis community gardening first hand. We’re looking forward to setting up another volunteer day in the spring. Many thanks to Andy, Gateway Greening, and the MADD committee for orchestrating our group activity, providing tools, and free lunch!
